Illamasqua Jo'mina - $14 at sephora.com

Here's an Illamasqua polish I've been debating purchasing for a really long time. I thought that I'd be ok with just Color Club Puccilicious, because in photos they look so similar, but in the end, they're pretty damn different. Jo'mina is lighter, pinker and maybe a bit warmer. It's awesome. It's got a great formula just like all the Illamasqua I've tried. Very pigmented and it takes only two coats for excellent coverage. It will be amazing with a summer tan, I'm telling you! I don't have any other polishes that are dupes, though it's somewhere in between Puccilicious and OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender.

Angles Nail Art

Funny thing happens sometimes, you start out with a particular vague idea for a design and the subconcious takes over. I came across this necklace on Pinterest, and decided to do triangle nails. You can see I used a similar motif on several nails. Once I had that vague idea, I started picking out a few colors from what happened to be on my desk and handy and got to work. I was finishing up and beginning to think of what I'd call it, and decided on Angles. Then I realized that the colors I used are basically exactly the same as the cover of one of my favorite band's (The Strokes) albums, called Angles. How crazy is that? See a picture of the album cover after the jump.

Bright Gradient Zebra Nail Art

I've been wanting to do a zebra gradient for a while, and I finally gave it a whirl. I used some polishes from the newest OPI and China Glaze polishes together to make a nice rainbow along with a striping brush. with the flash the deliniation between the colors is really obvious, but in most lights and not so close up it looks like a true gradient, which is cool. Very excited to try this with neons and then over black instead of white.

Products used:

  • China Glaze White on White
  • China Glaze Purple Panic
  • OPI A Roll in the Hague
  • OPI Did It On Em
  • China Glaze Aquadelic

Nubar Jellybeans Collection Swatches

Nubar has a new collection slated for Spring 2012 called Jellybeans. The name, I'm assuming, is an allusion to the fact that these are pretty much all jellies. The jury is still out on these, I'm a little ticked off at the application of a few of these, but there are a couple that are just drop-dead gorgeous. Some will will be great for "jelly sandwiches," the name for glitter sandwiched between a few coats of a jelly polish. Some of these won't work for that, but will still look gorgeous alone, and a couple are plain weird, one just plain hideous, but all are shiny as hell.

Hey guys, before I talk about this manicure I wanted to put up a little note about the blog sale: with the exception of three packages that I have to send tomorrow, all packages should be out. If you haven't received your package yet and want to contact me for the status of your package, please do so. Between the zillion emails back and forth I've got for this sale and the crazy busy post office and my mind-numbing list of things to do before Christmas, I want to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

On to the manicure... I hear you through the computer. You are probably bored of bright multi-colored manicures, let alone leopard here on this site, but I did this manicure earlier in the week and it's all I've got to share right now since I've been so busy lately. I used several of my favorite bright colors that I use often to do this multi mani.

More SinfulColors - Innocent and All About You

SinfulColors are available at Walgreen's and Rite Aid for about $2 each

Like you've heard me say, I'm not the world's biggest green nail polish fan. That all might be changing recently. There have been a deluge of amazing green polishes lately that have stolen my heart; from China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint to OPI Jade is the New Black, I've been eating my own words over the last few weeks.

It's not really a surprise that because of my new appreciation for greens my eyes zeroed in on Sinful Innocent while at my local Walgreen's recently. It's an almost neon lime green creme that reminds me of a 50s kitchen. It's got much more yellow than any other bright green I've got, and it applies wonderfully. I was a bit shocked at the application because I've heard a couple people say it wasn't that great,  but it went on smoothly and was very opaque in two coats. Normally SinfulColors don't treat me so well. So I can say I'm happy with the application and color.

Sinful All About You is a clear-base polish with varying sizes of gold, copper, and antiqued green-gold glitter and shimmer. It gives an almost speckled look to the nails and I loved the way it looked over Innocent. I'm sort of interested to see what would happen if it was mixed into a black polish, I think it would be gorgeous. It's got a nice glitter-to-base ratio meaning that I felt like I got a good amount of glitter that covered evenly in one coat over Innocent.

Bright Coral-Red Nail Polish Comparisons; Featuring OPI, Essie, Color Club and China Glaze

Index to pinkie: OPI Hey Vito Is My Car Red-y?, Color Club Sexsea, China Glaze High Hopes, Essie Flirt

OPI Hey Vito, Is My Car Red-y: This is incredibly similar to Sexsea, it's got a definite warm tone to it, making this bright coral look like a retro Hollywood red.

Color Club Sexsea: An easy-to-find and cheap alternative to the OPI Hey Vito, great formula and a perfect seriously vibrant bright coral-red choice for summer.

China Glaze High Hopes: This is more of a sweet mango coral. It's considerably less in-your-face and red than the above two, but it's got a special punch that would be great for less warm-toned people.

Essie Flirt: I thought this one was going to be dupey to the China Glaze by looking at the bottles, but turns out this one is slightly darker and a pinch more pink.
