Comparison Photos - Kelly Green featuring OPI, Claire's, Sally Hansen and Illamasqua

Index to pinkie (top to bottom): Illamasqua Rampage, Claire's Kelly Green, Sally Hansen Going Green, OPI Jade is the New Black

Illamasqua Rampage: This obviously isn't kelly green, but the application of Claire's Kelly Green reminded me of the jelly deliciousness of Rampage. One coat of Rampage equals two coats of Kelly Green, so if you like that one-coat color but not the streaky look, Kelly Green is a nice choice.

Claire's Kelly Green: This is a true kelly green in my book. It's got a jelly texture that reaches full saturation at about two moderate (three thin) coats. It dries fairly matte, but with a topcoat it's genius.

Sally Hansen Going Green: Before Kelly Green I thought this was the closest thing to kelly green I'd find, but now against the Claire's polish, I see that it's somewhat soft and washed out in comparison. The shimmer is very beautiful, and I liked the polish fine till Claire's Kelly Green came along, now I'm not sure I care.

OPI Jade is the New Black: Another that isn't a Kelly Green, but I threw it in for comparisons sake. It's a muted rich green, and it's gorgeous. I've reviewed it more in detail here.

Claire's Nail Polish in Mermaid

Claire's Mermaid - $4.50 at Claire's stores

I picked this polish up thinking that it looked incredibly unique in that it's a blue base with a pink sheen, and I couldn't recall having seen anything just quite like it. I also figured it would be somewhat sheer, but I didn't count on just how sheer it would turn out to be. Sadly, alone I would consider this polish to be pretty much worthless alone. It's a layering polish straight up. So in these photos you see Mermaid layered over China Glaze Flyin' High from the Up & Away collection. The base of Mermaid is very similar to the color of Flyin' High, so it worked out alright. Just a couple photos for your enjoyment.

Claire's Kelly Green Nail Polish - $4.50 at Claire's stores

Wow, I didn't know this even existed till a few days ago. I've been on the hunt for the perfect Kelly Green since before I was even that big into green nail polish. I've been looking for one for St Patty's Day for at least three years, and still haven't found one till this. I originally went into Claire's looking for some Mood polishes for a swap with Dutch blogger which I'm super excited about, and this jumped out at me. It's got a very pigmented jelly texture, and applies beautifully. Two coats will truly do, but since I'm neurotic, I applied three. It's sort of like Illamasque Rampage, but only in that the color becomes more intense with each coat. Rampage is obviously much darker. I was afraid this would turn out to be more of a neon, but luckily no, just a gorgeous vibrant true green. It does however dry sort of matte like a neon, but it's nothing a good topcoat can't fix. The price is definitely decent; these polishes are $4.50 each and are usually BOGO50%off at Claire's. I picked up Mermaid along with this, and sadly I'm nowhere near as happy with that one, but that's a story for another day.

Claire's Calm/Wild Mood Nail Polish

Claire's Calm/Wild Mood Nail Polish - $5 at Claire's

I just posted Claire's Mood Polish in Daring/Innocent, and this is the other of the two Mood polishes I talked about. Calm/Wild is purple with lots of silver shimmer when cool and a pretty Springy pink when warm. It's quite midtoned and subdued on it's own, whether it's showing pink or purple, but the ombre effect of the pink-to-purple gradation on the nails is something else altogether. If you've got shorter nails, or less free-edge, you're most likely going to see the pink alone most of the time unless you've just taken your hands out of cool water. However, if you've got a bit of free-edge to your nails, you can see it's got that neat effect just about all the time. I like this one best when both colors are showing.

Like Daring/Innocent, this one applies beautifully. It's opaque and streak-free in two coats. It applies as purple but as it begins to dry, or cure, it starts to slowly turn pink starting at the base of the nail. As you can see, the tips of my nails never turned pink. That is, until I ran them under cold water.

Claire's Mood Nail Polish in Daring/Innocent - $5 at Claire's

I'd been seeing so much on the web about these polishes from Claire's, but I was loathe to really get into them because of all the experiences I've had with "mood" polishes in the past. I had a couple Toma ones and they were sort of bunk, but I've read about how much people like these, so I bought a couple to give them a shot. These are the same price as the regular Claire's polishes; $5 and usually BOGO 50% off. However, they're quite a bit smaller.

I was shocked at the application! The exclamation point is not used lightly. I had zero problems with these polishes. They applied beautifully opaque and streak-free in two coats. This particular polish of course applies grey, but as it starts to cure it begins to turn peachy at the base of the nail and keeps changing from there. Since I've got a fair amount of free-edge to my nails, the very tips remained grey which makes for a neat sort of funky french look. I was also surprised at the immediate changing of shades when run under cold water, and then hot.

Magenta Glitter Nail Polish Comparison

Index to pinkie: Zoya Roxy, Claire's Chunky Purple, Zoya Roxy, Zoya Astra

Zoya Roxy: This is what I refer to as my "party in a bottle." Roxy is pure magenta glitter goodness in a bon bon of a bottle. Three or four coats of this and the nails are a deep sea of outrageous vibrant glitter.

Claire's Chunky Purple: I originally picked this one up because it reminded me off-hand of Roxy and boy it's close. Aside from the obvious addition of silver hex glitter and the fact that the "other" glitter is smaller than Roxy's, the base is the same and the end result is so similar. It's jazzed up a bit, but still just as awesome. The hex glitter adheres to the nail well, and you get good coverage for this one in about three coats. it's also SMOOTH on the nail with just a coat of topcoat which is a feat for such a "chunky" polish

Zoya Astra: Astra is a bit lighter and more pink than the others. You also see a fair amount more glitter than the others per coat of polish. It's ultra blingy and a happy unique warm pink that I haven't seen anywhere else. I love the addition of a little silver in the glitter.

I am so sorry, I totally forgot to take a bottle comp photo!!! I'll see if I can remember to get one soon.
