L'Oreal London Fall 2012 Colour Riche Nail in Brit Invasion

L'Oreal Brit Invasion -limited edition - $6 at most drugstores -

Last week I showed you pics of another polish from the L'Oreal "London Fall" collection, Tea and Crumpets. This polish, Brit Invasion, is the other that I picked up at that time. I picked up T&C because I'm always searching for The Perfect Nude Polish, and I keep thinking I've found nirvana, but something better always comes along. Or I hope it will... I picked up Brit Invasion simply because it looked sort of unique. Well, that and the name, but I think I've covered that before.

Brit Invasion is a smoky plum, a la Chanel Paradoxal, China Glaze Jungle Queen and Essie Smokin' Hot, but it's got a little something extra. Namely a generous glaze of bronzey shimmer. The coverage is excellent, you'll only need two moderate coats and wear is pretty good. I think it's the epitome of Fall polishes, and since metallics are big this summer, it'll make a nice polish to wear during the transitional period that comes in August between Summer brights and Fall vamps.

New York Summer nail polish in Poppies is such a pretty shade to only cost $1.60. The subtly shimmery gorgeousness of this velvety plum feels a bit more expensive. The application and appearance make this such an amazing buy. The photo above is Poppies on all fingers. While I was putting on the first coat, I was reminded of OPI Black Magic Mountain; the same subtle ribbon-candy shimmer and deep cherry-plum shade rang a bell, but as you can see it's a bit darker and more red than BMM. Plus it's got a nicer texture! WTF who said that?

Midtone Plum Nail Polish Comparisons; Featuring Essence, Misa, and OPI

Index to pinkie: OPI My Throne for a Cranberry Scone, Essence Plum Perfect, OPI Outback Aphrodisiac, Misa Push Upon It

OPI My Throne for a Cranberry Scone: This is the brightest of the bunch, with a touch more pink to it. The formula is the old chemical-laden OPI formula, and dammit, it's fantastic.

Essence Plum Perfect: This one applied the thickest of the bunch and it's so similar to the Misa and Outback Aphrodisiac it's not funny. It has just a touch more warmth than those two polishes.

OPI Outback Aphrodisiac: Again, very similar to the Essence and Misa, but the coolest-toned of all. The formula is the same as MTFACS that I mentioned above and applied amazingly in two coats.

Misa Push Upon It: This formula is similar to the old OPI one, just a bit thicker. It applied perfectly in two coats, and is just a bit dustier in tone than the others.
